Planning: using the blogger app

In order to keep up with my media blog, and access it quickly and easily- I downloaded the blogger app- it meant I could access my blog 24/7

Planning: using intertextuality

Within our music video, we have used intertextuality in the form of replicating one of the ideas from the original music video, we tracked Indya as she was singing, walking into camera in the same way that Sandi Thom did in her music video, We did this in order to heighten the sense of nostalgia- and the idea of bringing something from the past into the modern era- Sandi Thom's music video is around 10 years old- and we have tried to bring the ideas back!

Planning: Discrepancies during the burning of our disk

As we have been burning our music video to disk, it has come up as "Sadi Thom-Punk Rocker" rather than "Sandi Thom"- however, we are unsure as to why this has happened, because our event says "Sandi Thom"

Planning: Using 70's tv footage of mods and rockers- and news broadcasts

Within our music video, we have chosen to add in elements of 80's footage of mods and rockers, along with news articles and hippies. We have chosen to do this as we feel that it adds to our music video in creating the idea of nostalgia, memories and rebellion, this also means that our video is starting to become more and more post modern. The clips used in this scene, other than the mask overlay and Indya's eyes are not ours.

Planning:making Props

I have spent today making props for our music video, alongside the mask, today I created an old photo album to use in our music video when the photo turns to life, I created the album using black and grey card, ribbon, 70s sequel scrap book clips  and photos from our previous shoots which I added a sepia tone too!

Planning: making media props

This morning, I have made a mask to use in the blue screen clip for our music video, in order to make the mask blue, I printed it on blue card, I am currently in the process of making a vintage risqué photo album to go in the music video as well.

Planning: The hyperdermic needle theory

The hypodermic needle theory is entirely metaphoric- the first suggestion being that the different messages from the media are injected into the audience consuming them- it is powerful, and the audience cannot resist its effects.

The most alarming suggestion is that the media acts like a drug upon its consumers- hence the effect of the hypodermic needle. The audience is described as being drugged and addicted.

Research: Media Theorists

David Croteau and William Hoynes
They suggested that the process of consuming media texts had a direct effect or influence upon its audience- however, this effect is often considered to be negative.

They also suggested that audiences are often powerless or passive to the effects that media texts have upon them. The power within the text often lies within its underlying message- it can often go unnoticed.

Planning: Our Final Shots

In total, we only have two remaining shots to film, we need to film Indya looking through a photo album looking at old photos, and a blue screen shot of a mask with a computer screen across the top. The reason we haven't been able to film this shot with Indya yet is because it is a complex shot, we needed to wait until we had the group shot from yesterday, to be able to then put it in  a photo album in order to create the effect of the shot coming to life. The shot with the mask has also taken a lot of working out as we couldn't figure out how to do it, we now need to buy a plain mask and paint it blue in order to get the shot to work- we will then push the contrast in order to make the shot really dynamic.

Planning: Film shoot on the 18th November

Yesterday, we chose to shoot some of the group shots we missed out on our last two shoots, due to the deletion of our work and that when we organised the second shoot, no one could make it. To accomplish these group shots, we chose to film at school in our frees, this is because it meant that everyone was in the same place at the same time- and there wasn't the element of people not being able to make it. We filmed the shots we needed within the common room, and the front of our school. We also chose to coordinate the shots to a quitter period of time in the common room, we used period 2 yesterday- this was because the majority of students were in lesson, except from the people we wanted to use in our film shoot.

Planning: Using Facebook as a method of communication

Throughout the filming process for our music video, we have used Facebook as our method of communication- this is because it meant that we could contact everyone quickly with  ease in a way that meant that everyone received the same message. By using Facebook, we can also get our extras involved throughout the entire music video, they can view the pictures we have taken and use them themselves- we wanted to make them feel a part of the entire process.

Target Audience Feeback

Media Feedback - Kizoa Online Movie Maker
The majority of people preferred mystique records to DNA records, this is as I feel that it was the most interesting and had the more unusual effect, our feedback audience was also varied, from people ranging from the ages of 12 to around the age of 50- meaning we got a true population response from 27, this is why I think that we should use Mystique Records for our Record Label.

Planning: Adding in a vignette to our media project

Within our media project, we have added in a vignette from a freeze frame in order to create a still image for the background, we also used a blur in order to make it not as harsh, I also chose to use pink for the background, this is as the pink flowers created synergy with the pink flowers in Indya's hair- pink is also an incredibly feminine colour- and makes Indya appear girly and incredibly feminine.

Planning:Favourite Shot

This is my favourite shot so far within our music video, luke tracked Indya singing whilst everyobdy followed her, and i think it looks really effective, we then added a blur effect on the sides to make the group stand out and lightened the colours within the shot.

Planning: organisation of today's shoot

Today's shoot was well organised, we had planned costumes, used the same risk assessments and call sheets from last time and our singer Indya came with some ace makeup! However, unfortunately all the extras couldn't make it- which we didn't find out until the shoot started, this meant we filmed all the shots we could with Indya- however we are going to have to do the other few shots in our frees at school in order to get everyone in them, although this did mean that there was lots of food catered for three of us!

Planning: makeup

For today's shoot, in which we replicated the lost footage, we asked Indya to bring her own makeup- this is as she was allergic to the makeup we brought on the shoot before, it meant that Indya could wear the dark lip makeup we wanted her to wear for the shoot

Planning: Spooky Shooting

Today, myself, Luke and Indya did a film shoot in Brigg, we used the cemetery and my garden to do some performance shots, we used these as we felt that they were good for trying out different framing techniques and angles. We're trying to get some more performance shots to replace the ones we lost last weekend. However, it was rather spooky shooting in the graveyard!
